ITZ Starter Bases…

We saw a growing trend of coaches returning to the hobby only to get frustrated with tweaking bases.

-Tweaking is the process of using smooth jaw pliers to straighten and thin the prongs on the bottom of the bases sometimes applying heated pliers.-

This led to coaches leaving the hobby disappointed that the game play wasn’t very good. Back in the day, most of the bases ran fairly well and there was the occasional super star. That just didn’t happen like it used to.

We decided to make this a priority and Mark began testing paper bases to see how the prongs responded to different pre curls. We then turned to rendering the best designs in CAD and submitting the designs to the factory.

The Factory recommended an expensive three part slide mold for just the prongs. We were hoping to get them done on a single mold. The slide mold was the most expensive tool we had ever purchased but the factory was correct, the parts were flawless!
We then started testing different plastic formulas with the design and settled on our first two: Formula 14 in green and formula 44 in black.
